Hide Unfinished Holes - When to Pick Up and How to Score
We follow USGA rules for situations where a player starts a hole but does not hole out (Rules of Golf 3 and 23.2 and Rules of Handicapping 3.3).
Individual Games
A player is disqualified from the game for not holing out on any hole that is counted in the game. (Exception - Stableford games). The scorecard should be marked with X or X followed by the most likely score. A disqualified player will need to post their own score.
Best Ball Formats
A player may pick up once the result of the hole has already been decided (i.e., you can't change your team score). Record the most likely score followed by 'X' (scores will be posted).
Stableford Games
It is recommended to pick up your ball when your score will be net double bogey or higher (resulting in 0 points). Score net double bogey (scores will be posted).
Players Not In The Game
A player can pick up their ball at any time and take the lower of their most likely score or net double bogey (and post the score).
Most Likely Score Guidelines
Add one stroke for balls on the green within 5 feet of the hole, add 2 or 3 strokes for balls between 5 feet and 20 yards from the hole (depending on the position of the ball, the difficulty of the green and the ability of the player). Add 3 or 4 strokes for balls beyond 20 yards from the hole.
